The Evolution of the EI Ecosystem

King Saud University (KSU) laid the foundation for innovation in 2008 with the establishment of the Entrepreneurship Institute (EI) and the Intellectual Property and Technology Licensing program (IPTL). The Innovation Center (IC) was launched in 2009, followed by the Incubator and Accelerator (I&A) in 2015. In 2016, we inaugurated the Technology Advancement & Prototyping Center (TAP) and later integrated it with the IC, IPTL, and EI, creating a unified platform for innovation and entrepreneurship. In 2019, we expanded the IC with five specialized innovation units: Medical Technologies, STEM, Social Services, Digital Innovation, and Service Innovation. We also established the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) to commercialize technological advancements. In 2020, the Commercialization Unit (CU) was created to translate university innovations into market-ready products. This evolution of the Entrepreneurship Institute Ecosystem at KSU demonstrates our dedication to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, driving the innovation agenda, and reinforcing our status as a leader in this field.
